Craft Steel Construction Group successfully completed a $9.7 million mechanical project for a plant handling three primary processes: crushing oil sands ore, screening the crushed ore, and mixing the screened ore with hot water in large drums. The prepared ore was then transported via slurry pipeline across the Athabasca River to the extraction plant.
Key Installations
Over the course of seven months, the project involved several critical components:
- Four ore conditioning grinding drums, each measuring 50 feet by 20 feet
- 15 hydroelectric conveyance pumps, each rated at 1,400 horsepower
- Associated motors, drives, and support equipment
- 13,000 feet of large diameter steel pipe, ranging from 2 to 30 inches
- An additional 7,000 feet of smaller diameter pipe
